Are you looking to dive deeper into the world of Lindy Hop?  Do you like the idea of learning a routine and performing in front of a crowd?  Are you interested in hanging out and practicing with people who are as obsessed with dancing as you are?  Side Street Swing’s teams just might be the place for you!

Side Street’s teams hold open auditions annually in September.  Other auditions are occasionally held at the discretion of the coaches.

Current team members can pay dues here**Please note that simply paying dues does not make you a member of the team - all team members must audition before joining.**

We have several teams which cover a wide range of levels and goals, from entry-level to semi-pro.  Some teams are competitive, some teams are performance oriented, and some focus on improving your dancing just for the sake of getting better!  All the teams are lots of fun, and are coached by some of the city’s best Lindy Hoppers. Below you can learn more about each of our teams, and see if one of them might be right for you!

The Lamplighters
Mondays, 8:30 - 10:00
Coached by: Erik Morris and Laura Smith
Monthly Dues: $70 regular, $55 student

Welcome to the Lamplighters, our entry-level couples choreography team!  If you're curious as to what being on a team is all about, this is the place for you!
On this team, dancers work with a partner to learn an original choreography and perform it in the December and Spring showcases. If they're so inclined, team members may also decide to compete in the team division at O-Town Showdown in March!
This team will involve light acrobatics, and focuses on improving your dancing, getting creative, and having fun. This team is perfect for intermediate dancers who have done the full swing series or the Lindy Lab and are looking for more!

The Guild of Social Dancers **Mini-Audition, January 4, 7:30 - 8:30 PM**
Fridays, 7:30 - 9:00
Coached by: Jamie Blair and Jeffrey Territo
Month to Month - $60 regular, $50 student
Full Term (3 months) - $150 regular, $120 student

Building on the amazing experience of our Summer all-teams project, we present: the Guild of Social Dancers!
This brand new mixed-level team/practice group focuses on honing the skills that will make you an excellent social dancer.  It is designed to be creative, inspiring, collaborative, and social! After practice, team members are encouraged to head over to OSDS together to dance the night away!

Dancers can join at one of two levels:

Apprentice - For dancers who want to learn, practice, and grow, and who have lots of suggestions for class ideas that they’d like to learn about from the coaches.  Apprentice-level members should have been dancing for at least a year or two, and may have taken high level local classes or have been members of a performance troupe.  At this level, team members will be expected to suggest class topics and give constructive feedback when asked.

Journeyman - For dancers who want to collaborate, share exercises, ideas, and experiments, and get some practice teaching as well!  Dancers at the Journeyman level should have been dancing for a couple of years now, and may have travelled to workshops or competitions outside the city. At this level team members have a bit more say in what the team focuses on, and will be expected to contribute and lead exercises for the rest of the group.

This team does not focus on learning or performing choreography, and is strictly non-acrobatic.  If you know you will be away some weeks, don't worry! Team members can participate for the full term, or just for the months you will be around.

Auditions for both Apprentice and Journeyman levels will be held on Friday, January 4th, from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.  There is a $5 audition fee, and all auditionees will receive a call back with feedback on their dancing, regardless of whether you are invited to join the team.  If you would like to audition, please RSVP here. See you there!
